THE CORPSE LIGHT AND OTHER TALES OF TERRORDick DonovanThis title is out of print. |
Midnight House is pleased to announce the centenary edition of Tales of Terror by Dick Donovan. This highly sought after collection of horror stories has been unavailable since its first appearance in 1899. This new edition features a scholarly essay on Donovan by Richard Dalby and gathers together these outstanding stories of the macabre that have previously been found only in the original volume or in scarce anthologies. Dick Donovan was a master of not only the Jamesian ghostly tale, but also wrote weird tales of a more graphic, visceral nature, such as the type of tale familiar to readers of the American pulps.
Readers discovering Dick Donavan for the first time will be amazed at the range of his work, from the Teutonic Gothic of "The Legend of Wolfspring" to the lurid excesses of "The Cave of Blood", Donovan covers the depth and breadth of supernatural horror in a style uniquely his own. Many readers will be familiar with a handful of his stories such as those previously reprinted in recent anthologies of Victorian and Edwardian tales of the macabre, but rest assured, some of his very best appear here for the first time in one hundred years!
Midnight House is dedicated to the preservation of classic horror and weird fiction in handsome, inexpensive editions. Printings are limited to 450 numbered casebound copies. The Corpse Light and other Tales of Terror features a striking cover by noted artist, Allen Koszowski and will be ready for shipping in February of this year. Cover price is $40.00; (dealers please inquire).
